Bluethroat at Minsmere, Suffolk.

My dad and i travelled to see this cracker of a bird early morning on the 30th, on arrival a handfull of people were looking for the bird. After a short while it flew onto the track between the south hide and sluice accompanied by a pair of stonechat. We all got good views before it disappeared into the reeds with the stonechat. It showed a couple more times and came close to us all on one occasion before again flying into the reeds and not reappearing.

Norfolk. March 2008.

I travelled to hunstanton, norfolk with sarah to try and get some shots of fulmars, and whatever we came across along the beaches. The wind was quite brisk and blowing straight in on us, so when i did get a fly by fulmar it was normally at great speed, but i did manage to get some shots. There were good numbers of gulls feeding along the shoreline with a group of bar tailed godwits. I like photography along the coastline as there's normally good numbers of species to watch and capture on camera.

Further along the coast at Thornham there was no sign of the reported great white egret, but i did manage to get some close shots of a single brent goose feeding alongside a boat mooring. Also a couple of confiding redshanks feeding, in the shot below the bill ws so caked in soft mud it looked more like it was chocolate coated 'just for easter'.

Sarah and i took a walk here to see what as around. There were quite a few sand martins over the main lake with a good number of wigeon, a pair of oystercatchers flew over towards the fishing lake where there was a single common sandpiper. We came across a group of six chiffchaffs around the lakes edge feeding in the bushes and tree, some were very yellow toned. The weather got worse so we left to look locally for some hares to photograph.(see my gallery link)

At the farm where my feeding station is set up myself and Sarah noticed a large group of Yellowhammers and Reed Buntings feeding around a seed hopper. I set some seed down next to it whilst we went looking for hares to photograph. On arrival back the group were feeding there still, so the car was used as a hide and some shots were obtained.

I went looking for Grey wagtails at Gt Barford weir but did not connect there so i moved onto Roxton weir and found a pair feeding near the weir and adjacent river. Going back to the car i came across a pair of Oystercatchers feeding in a field off the access track.

The Lodge, Sandy. Feb 2008.

I spent a couple of days at the feeders outside the lodge shop hoping to photograph the Bramblings ,Siskins and Redpolls that were frequenting there. After my two day spell i had a few decent shots of them, albeit on feeders, along with some common species too.

Feeding Station. Cambridgeshire. Feb 2008

During the end of the month i stayed local and visited my feeding station a few times, the birds were still in good numbers and a couple of new species were added to the list.
